Boyz 'R' Us Scott Monk Random House April 2005 $16.95 297p pb ISBN: 174166018-1 reprint fp 1996 |
We thought the author, Scott Monk, was very good after we read the book Raw. Now we have read Boys ‘R’ Us we think that he is even better! The story is about Mitch, a 16-year-old teenager who is into gangs, drugs, chicks and everything else that’s cool at that age. In this book, he tries to get out of a gang that he swore his life to, but he comes close to death in the process. Mitch’s big brother, Sean plays a big part in his life, as he is the person Mitch looks up to. We love the way the author lets you live through the character, and how in-depth his explanations of the characters feelings are. This book is fantastic, especially if you like teenage dramas and don’t mind reading about the rough times that someone else goes through. It was a sad but really enjoyable book that we recommend for teenagers. Christi, aged 14 and Kiri, aged 15, Canberra, ACT |
